Maggie Toulouse Oliver Fears She May be Headed for Life in Prison

This week, far-left media outlet Source New Mexico published a bizarre story about Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver and an exchange on the social media platform “X” with Representative John Block (Republican, District 51). Oliver made the following post, which she says was aimed at Democrats who are claiming Trump stole the presidency:

“I’m going to be straight with you all. Former President Trump was elected outright. Period. Just as I did not and do not tolerate conspiracy theories and arguments about 2016 and 2020, I don’t now.”

To which Representative John Block replied:

“Yes, he did win outright, just as he won outright in 2020 and 2016. How does this happen???? FRAUD. That’s how. But regardless, President Trump didn’t have it stolen this year despite all the fraud (because we swamped the polls), but we’re still watching how certain individuals attempt to steal legislative seats in the usual suspect counties. We are watching.”

Following this exchange, Maggie set her X account to “private” and ran to Source New Mexico to announce she would be filing a police report against John Block for “harassment” which she claims violates a law passed in 2023 which prohibits intimidation of election officials.

Characterizing a statement about Block’s beliefs on the 2020 election and the shady things that are happening with state legislative races in New Mexico as “harassment” and “intimidation” is bizarre.

The First Amendment gives all Americans the right to criticize their government and to speak what they believe is the truth whenever they please. This fact was recently tested in Surprise, Arizona when a local official arrested and criminally charged a woman who was giving a public comment that was critical of local government. The charge was quickly dismissed by an angry judge who called the attempt at curtailing free speech “objectively outrageous.”

Maggie’s attempt to suppress justified criticism of herself and New Mexico’s elections is a story in itself, but what Maggie told Source New Mexico next is even more interesting:

“What they’re saying, they’re going to come here, they’re going to get me convicted for treason. They have me in the crosshairs. They’re going to make sure I go to jail for the rest of my life. These are not insignificant things to try to threaten a public official with.”

Maggie must know that commenters on X have no authority to try her for treason and throw her in jail for the rest of her life. What is she really afraid of? Is she worried about anything that could draw official attention to her now that the administration will change? Is she worried that President Trump will follow through on his promise to investigate and prosecute election fraud in 2020 and 2024?
