On a windy Sunday afternoon, May 1, 2022, family and friends of Larry Dennisson met together at the Cemetery in Stanley, New Mexico to lay his body to rest. Larry passed away at home on April 10, 2022. Amongst the crowd of probably 200+ people I heard someone describe Larry as the “Godfather of drilling.” Larry spent many years drilling water wells all over New Mexico and especially in the Estancia Valley. His company, Dennisson Drilling of New Mexico INC, now operated by son Leo Dennisson, holds the oldest active drilling license in the State of New Mexico.
Ten drilling rigs and pump trucks were set up on the Dennisson property along Highway 41 just to the southeast of the cemetery to honor their dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend. The Dennisson well drilling legacy continues on with several sons and grandsons continuing on the “family business”.
A ten rig salute for the Godfather of Drilling.
