549 days have passed since the protest of January 6th, 2021 was held in Washington, D.C. It is a day that will go down in the history books. To over 800 men, women, and their families, the January 6th protest marked a turning point in the lives of hundreds of Patriots who were ultimately arrested and jailed. Since that day we have witnessed how hundreds of American Patriots became modern day political prisoners.

According to an article from Time Magazine, “only around a quarter of those arrested- 185 individuals- have received criminal sentences, while the rest are waiting for their trials or haven’t yet reached plea deals.” These Patriots have become modern day political prisoners.

Many of these men and women have fundraisers with updates on a website at Patriot Mail Project.com. Many of the stories are heartbreaking. The Patriot Mail Project (PMP) describes themselves on their Facebook page as “an action group for individuals that want to send encouraging letters to our January 6, Patriot Political Prisoners (J6P3s).” The mailing addresses are regularly updated, on the website, so that these prisoners can receive mail.

One of the heartbreaking stories is of honorably discharged United States Marine, Ryan Nichols, who has been imprisoned for 537 days, now. During one update about his experience, he wrote, “My youngest, who just turned 5, tells me he “doesn’t even remember what I look like,” and wants to know “am I ever coming home?”

Before his bond hearing last December, he finally caved to the pressure of getting vaccinated for Covid, so that he would finally be allowed a haircut and shave, to look presentable before the court. He, and many other incarcerated Patriots are denied these “luxuries” because they supposedly increase their chances of getting Covid. I would like to encourage the readers of this article to start writing letters to these patriots. A small token of appreciation, such as a few kind words, can go a long way. If you receive a letter back, feel free to share with us, and we can publish it on The Estancia News website. Let’s support our January 6, Patriot Political Prisoners.
