On Tuesday, June 14th, the town of Estancia opened the pool to the public. Word on the street is there were many hurdles and inspections required for this to happen. On the Town of Estancia Facebook page, Boyd Vardy commented, “Thanks to all that made this happen (sic) no small task”. Several others voiced their gratitude and joy that our kids and other community members would have a place to cool off for the summer.
Crowds flocked to the pool, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. A swim team has already begun to train, and swim lessons have commenced. It is almost as if we all forgot the last two years we had no pool due to the pandemic.
Many kids, and their anxious parents, felt that they would freeze to death in the water. Gratefully, the town invested in cute, colorful kids chairs that they placed throughout the pool area. This allowed the chilly kids to warm up in the sun, while others braved the frigid temperatures. Either way, fun was had by all, thanks to those who put in the hard work to get the pool reopened.
