The 2024 election has further solidified the progressive stranglehold on the New Mexico legislature and EMERGE New Mexico is largely orchestrating this shift. As previously covered, EMERGE seeks to replace men, Caucasians, and conservatives in elected positions with women who have taken an oath to the Democrat platform. Several new EMERGE members were specifically positioned to replace moderate Democrats, including seasoned Hispanic male legislators, traditionally representing a significant demographic in New Mexico’s political and cultural fabric.

Funded by progressive powerhouses like George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, Planned Parenthood, Google, EMILY’s List and others, EMERGE emphasizes the importance of building a political landscape that promotes radical climate policy, expansive government roles, DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) – ideologies often associated with neo-Marxism. The recent election cycle saw 25 ENM alumni securing seats in the New Mexico State House, constituting 36% of the body, while the State Senate now includes 7 EMERGE graduates, about 17% of its membership. This strategic placement of candidates has led to a notable reduction in ideological and demographic diversity within the legislature.

This shift moves New Mexico towards a less diverse legislative body, sidelining the voices and concerns of most New Mexicans who do not align strictly with EMERGE’s progressive agenda.

As the legislature begins its session, EMERGE’s strategy is already apparent in the pre-filing of legislation. All the 19 bills filed so far were from far-left democrats, 12 are sponsored by EMERGE graduates, signaling significant control over the legislative agenda. This dominance in bill sponsorship underscores the group’s influence and indicates the scope and variety of issues that will be prioritized. By contrast, as of publication, there have been no bills pre-filed by moderate democrats or conservatives.

As EMERGE alumni assume their roles and influence policy directions, the narrowing of legislative debate and policy considerations will have lasting impacts on the state. The electorate must be aware of the origins, backing, and strategic intentions behind these legislators. Transparency about the motivations and future directions they may champion is essential to ensure that all constituents’ interests are represented and considered in the legislative halls.
