Does faith mean anything? I would assume you’ve heard people say things like, “You just have to have faith” or “keep the faith” or “just believe” or something along those lines. But, let’s be honest here, does that really mean anything? It very likely means very different things depending on who is speaking, and it probably gets interpreted very differently depending on who is hearing. What is more important though, faith or the object of faith? Is all faith equal? Are all gods equal? Are all religions equal? Are all beliefs equal? Are all doctrines equal? Are all books equal? Are all books that claim to be “The Bible” equal? My answer would be a big fat NO! For, things that are different are not the same.
The purpose for this writing though is to lay out for you my faith: a quick bullet point list of my beliefs. This list is not comprehensive or all-inclusive, but it will give you a solid idea of my standing and view of things pertaining to this life and the one to come. Of course, this piece is written with great bias – I believe “my faith” to be true and faiths contrary to it to be false, but shouldn’t everyone believe that about their faith? I mean, if you think other faiths are equal or superior, why keep yours? Honestly, I just want to know the truth and place my faith there, and if I can’t stand on my faith than I might as well toss it to the side. TRUTH is no respecter of persons. It is my prayer and hope that all my fellow men, women, boys, and girls would “come unto the knowledge of the truth.” But everyone will stand before God and give account for himself; I am not responsible for your faith, only mine. Until next time!
My faith:
- The King James Bible is the highest authority on the earth at this time. It is the “holy scriptures”, the “word of God”, the “words” God has preserved to man. All the answers needed pertaining to man, God, the Devil and this world can be found in that book. But you must be careful going to that book in your own wisdom, for that book will answer you according to your heart. Here are some interesting links pertaining to the Book.
- That book must be studied according to its own dictates as found in 2 Timothy 2:15 – “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The three main divisions of the book (which are people groups) are found in 1 Corinthians 10:32 – “Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:”. Another great division to keep in mind is the prophecy program (physical kingdom that Jesus will rule in the future; promised to Abraham and his seed through Isaac) and the mystery program (spiritual mysteries revealed to Paul; found in the Pauline epistles Romans-Philemon; main body of doctrine to the church). Do not try to mix things in the Bible that are meant to be separate!
These two beliefs are the foundation upon which all these other beliefs are formed and they are the lens to which I view and scrutinize ALL other knowledge, faiths, ideas and so forth.
- God is a triune being consisting of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Ghost. These three are one.
- God is the creator of heaven and earth and all that is therein.
- Adam was created in God’s image. Due to his fall, that image was lost- now man is under the condemnation of death.
- Mankind is a triune being consisting of body, soul, and spirit. At death his spirit returns to God who gave it (spirit of life), his body returns to dirt, and his soul (eternal) will enter Heaven or Hell.
- All men (mankind) are “in Adam” by their birth. But “in Adam all die”. “…So death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Sin and death are the heart of man’s problems – we MUST be reconciled to God.
- Jesus Christ (God the Creator manifest in the flesh) came to earth (through the womb of a virgin) to fulfill all the righteousness of the law and to give His life a sacrifice for sin on the cross. He spent three days in the tomb, and He rose again!
- To be “in Christ”, one must receive the truth of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as the sacrifice for their sins. His work satisfied God’s wrath and His work is offered as a “free gift” to all that will receive it by faith. There are absolutely no works required or accepted to be “in Christ” today. No water baptism, good deeds, law-keeping, commandments, etc.
- Right now we are living in what some call the dispensation of the grace of God. The Jew (as a people) have been set aside due to their unbelief of Jesus Christ as their Messiah. To be a part of the church (a spiritual body) one MUST be “in Christ”. To be in Christ = To be saved = To possess eternal life = One spirit with Jesus Christ.
- The gospel (good news) of today is “…I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you…For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures…” (1 Corinthians 15)
- The church (spiritual body of believers) will be raptured out of this world one day. The dead in Christ will rise first, then those which are alive will be caught up together with them.
- We are not living in the tribulation nor going through the end times, but we may very well be in the last days of the church. Today is the day of salvation, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ today!
