The county clerk has taken a 30 day leave of absence, which is the case for allegations against for a case in court.

Maintenance trained employee for road department was requested by road department so the department would not need to pull workers to do maintenance. A question was raised by the commission on a service contract. This will taken up at the next meeting.

Using ARPA funds to improve roads was brought up by the commission. In discussion the costs and uses of base course (45K per mile). Chip seal (35K, 70K double per mile) and collectible (20K per mile) were examined. Present base course is not a good long tern solution, but if the county rents crusher to improve it will last longer. The commission suggested a 4 or 8 year plan and a list of problematic roads for one time ARPA funding. This will be again taken up at the next meeting.

A single centralized location for the emergency management was requested. At present it seems time is lost and effort wasted with equipment stored in different locations as well as being stored along with equipment that has other uses. Locations suggested were Estancia and McIntosh. While a building in Moriarty is paid for it has only the minimum size needed. Having it on the road department property is another option, which is near Estancia.

Torrance Domestic Violence is one of only two county run. The county is looking to move it to a nonprofit agency. Valencia County’s nonprofit as well as Esperanza, Santa Fe County already have satellite offices here and will be examined as possibilities. This could provide better service ans more secure records. Tracy Master requested to address that as possible as training for offenders services is needed and future grants could be in jeopardy if the county runs the program. Also staff shortages has caused her to take hot line call, which is not her expertise. The next meeting will look further at options and a time frame.

In the Managers Report Stephanie Reynolds, the new HR Director “steps right in.” The county has a list of job openings.

Cheryl Allen is leaving her position as grants manager to work in the sheriff’s office, so the county will seek a new grants manager. Leroy Candelaria will be missed and keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers was suggested in Commissioner Updates.

If you feel a county road is in need of repair please contact a county commissioner. Also the county website has a job posting for a county clerk, so I guess the allegations against the missing county clerk may be having some effect.
