The commission certified the election results. The commission and county manager questioned and went over the results with the deputy clerk, who according to the commission is doing a good job. Concerns by the public where noted.
In public comment concern was raised that some who showed up to vote did not because of wait time and were told they “should vote early”, which seemed rude considering it may be the only time some could try to vote. Concern was raised as to the reliability of convenience voting centers. Question was raised if the deputy clerk could verify numbers and lack of transparency.
Mistrust of the government, “lost republic,” “treason on a mass scale,” “system broken,” that the deputy clerk hands were tied, “nothing happens,” and government corruption were other opinions. Someone expressed “rights were from God, not from government.” Again not following statue was expressed. District 2 state representative Stepheny Lord was concerned with the vague response she received from the secretary of state on the ballot issue. Recall or not recall of elected officials was expressed. Janice Barrela was complimented for doing agood job. The commission and law enforcement in an opinion need to act on ballot issues.
A comment reminded those present that the county clerk is now collecting a pay check for not working.
The county manager has in the last week of so found some, but not all of the missing ballot information on about 300 ballots.
Further action on the subject of primary election results was briefly mentioned by the commission. Leroy Candeleria asked and received that the cost of the hand count for the primary election so far is, including cost of time spent by employees, about 58K.
The commission approved a bid for a concrete tank and related repairs for septic systems at fire station N2. The county is still in the process as of date on negotiating with Superior Ambulance. Moriarty will still assist the county on ambulance service.
