The following is a press release provided by Sheriff David Frazee:

On January 19, 2023, our deputies were out patrolling on Lucas Road near Edgewood when a concerned citizen flagged the deputy down to inform him of an area resident, Mr. Dominic Sanchez, age 26, had been seen trespassing on a neighbor’s property. Based upon information provided, the deputy conducted a warrant search on the trespasser and learned that he had an active warrant from the Edgewood Police Department for Attempt to commit a felony, to wit: Residential Burglary and for Criminal Damage to Property under $1000.00.

Our deputy, Alex Schwerdel, who is assigned to the Detective Division, located Mr. Dominic Sanchez and placed him under arrest on the warrants. After the arrest, Deputy Schwerdel located two glass pipes, that were determined to be drug paraphernalia. Dominic Sanchez was then booked into the Core Civic Detention Center where they found a rocky substance presumed to be methamphetamine on his person.

The following day, on January 27, 2023, Mr. Dominic Sanchez received yet another warrant for his arrest from Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office for failure to comply with Pretrial Services for Assault Upon a Peace Officer, one count, and Battery Upon a Peace Officer two counts. Then on January 30, 2023, Deputy Schwerdel charged Mr. Dominic Sanchez with two counts of Criminal Trespassing, one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Felony, Methamphetamine) and one count of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Torrance County Sheriff’s Office wants to commend all involved, and especially the concerned citizens, for their aid and efforts, of everyone involved, in the arrests of Mr. Dominic Sanchez. It is only through the combined efforts, of community involvement, that we can attack our growing crime problems.
